March 2023 Workshop

A select four-day workshop for only three photographers on March 22-25, 2023!  The Laguna Seca Ranch owner, Gene Gwin, will be the workshop leader.  There will be three focuses for this workshop:  Birds on Beautiful Perches, Songbirds in Flight, and Action Raptor Photos.

The initial emphasis will be to concentrate on the basics of bird photography to include ISO considerations, F/numbers and how they can affect the image, the importance of using the correct shutter speed, and depth-of-field considerations.  The last two days of the workshop will be dedicated to Songbirds in Flight using advanced photography techniques that will enable you to take images like the photographs you see in magazines.  Your workshop leader will use techniques that he has learned during the many years of photographing at Laguna Seca Ranch.

The cost is $2,000.00 for the four-day workshop.  The cost does not include lodging, food, or transportation. Suggested equipment:  a tripod, camera, a 300-400 mm lens for Raptors, and a 400-600 mm lens for Songbirds.  For the Songbirds in Flight sessions, you will need a regular and a remote camera shutter release.  It is also recommended to have an extra camera with a lens around the 70-200 mm range to capture close-up Songbirds in Flight images.
